East Yorkshire golfers are being given the chance to add to their armoury ahead of the new season as taster sessions to test out some of the latest equipment are being staged a new specialist golf store.
FG Sports has launched at the One Stop Golf centre, in National Avenue, west Hull, with a focus placed on stocking the world's leading equipment and clothing, for players of all ages.
It is a significant development for the popular centre, which has carved a reputation for attracting both professional players looking for serious practice to families simply looking for an afternoon of fun.
Alongside a floodlit and heated driving range, a Target Golf range, a specially created short game challenge and leading technology to analyse swings and shots, the centre won high praise from US star John Daly last year when visiting ahead of playing in the British Open.
Now, Ben Rozenbroek, managing director of FG Sports on the site, says the new shop fits perfectly with the centre's commitment to supporting the thousands of serious, competitive golfers across the region in looking to enhance their games.
One Stop Golf is very well known for the fun variations of the sport offered on site, but the centre also caters brilliantly for the serious golfer with its first-class facilities, and we now feel we are offering the equipment to match that, said Mr Rozenbroek.
"We have made a significant investment into ensuring the new store stocks the very best golfing equipment and clothing on the market. Alongside the expertise and technology on site, we feel we can now offer golfers a unique experience when it comes to selecting their equipment."
Equipment brands including Titleist, Cobra, Nike, Callaway, Ping, Mizuno, TaylorMade, FootJoy and Ben Ross are stocked, alongside clothing brands Under Armour, Nike and Puma.
A wide range of clothing for both women and children is also available, is the leading Golphin for Kids junior equipment, designed specifically to make the game easier for youngsters starting out.
Three demonstration nights with manufacturers of golfing equipment nights are planned on Tuesday, March 15(Ben Ross demonstration), Tuesday March 22nd (Nike) and Tuesday, March 29 (Cobra), each being held between 3pm and 7pm.
People wishing to try out the equipment, using the centres Flight-Scope technology to assess the impact on the new equipment has on their swings and shots, will need to book their test sessions, for which resident PGA Professionals Richard Pace and James Drinkall will on hand to help guide and offer advice.
Mr Rozenbroek added: "We're delighted to have opened the new shop in time for the new golfing season.
"It is the time of year when golfers are analysing their game and looking for that extra boost, so we hope to see our open nights fully booked as it is a rare opportunity to test out the latest equipment and speak to the manufacturers about them, whilst also having professionals on hand for extra advice."
Bookings are now being taken for custom fits and the demonstration days, which run between 3pm and 7pm, on (01482) 494948.
The store is now open, but a celebration event to mark the opening will be staged on Tuesday, March 15 from 5pm.
